“Consolations” by David Whyte
A Book Study in Five Sessions
Led by interfaith minister Elizabeth River
Fridays Jan 27, Feb 3, 10, 24, & Mar 10, 2017 (no class on Feb 17 or Mar 3)
David Whyte, poet and marine zoologist, has written small beautiful essays on 52 ordinary words. Each chapter is a meditation on meaning and context, an invitation to shift and broaden our perspectives on the inevitable vicissitudes of life: pain and joy, honesty and anger, confession and vulnerability.
Each week, we’ll share our own reflections on these words—their meaning in our own current lives—as we tell our stories, listen to one another, meditate and do some writing to know ourselves better and deepen our connection with others.
Point Reyes Books offers 10% off this book to participants. We ask that you commit to (at least) 3 sessions. Please bring writing materials. To register, contact Elizabeth River at firstname.lastname@example.org.
